New Feature
Exclude selected disks from backup for Nutanix AHV
You can now customize your backups by selecting specific disks to exclude, while configuring your virtual machines. This flexibility enables efficient use of storage resources and tailored data protection strategies. You can choose to exclude disks with non-critical data such as disks with temporary files, page files, or other non-essential data.
Customer action required: Upgrade the Nutanix AHV proxy to version 6.3.7-598074.
File Server and NAS
Enhancement
Changes to Archive retention
We have updated the Archive retention policy for File Servers and NAS. This provides greater control over data retention to align with your organizational requirements.
Key changes:
Retention policies can now be set in Daily, Weekly, Monthly, and Yearly formats.
A minimum retention of 365 days is required for Daily snapshots.
Weekly, Monthly, and Yearly retention can be customized as needed.

📝 Note
All the existing policies, except those with Data Lock enabled, will be migrated to have this new retention format, in February 2025.

Enhancement
Support for Kerberos-based authentication in NAS
Druva supports basic authentication and Kerberos-based authentication (Kerberos V5) while communicating with the NAS device through the NAS proxy. Kerberos is the preferred authentication method for security reasons. If the Kerberos-based authentication fails, basic authentication will be used.
Customer action required: Upgrade the NAS proxy to version 7.0.4-600176.
Deprecation
Deprecation of Windows 2012/R2 operating system editions
We have discontinued support for Windows 2012 and Windows 2012 R2 as they have reached the End-of-life (EOL) and are no longer supported by its vendor.

Enhancements to Restore workflow for Azure virtual machines
You can now define custom Network Settings when restoring your Azure virtual machines. Specify custom Network Interface Names and Static IP addresses or opt to automatically assign a Dynamic IP when restoring the VM. For more information, see Restore Azure virtual machines.

Scanner CLI Utility enhancements for NAS
Scanner CLI utility now supports Advanced Smart Scan. With this integration, the Scanner CLI utility scans only the directories to get file metadata, resulting in faster scans. For more information, see Scanner CLI Utility.

Support for session-based authentication in Isilon (now known as Dell PowerScale)
Enhancement
We now support a more secure, reliable, and efficient session-based authentication method and the existing HTTP basic authentication when backing up shares on Isilon (now known as Dell PowerScale) NAS device. For more information, NAS device validations.

Support for AWS GovCloud (US)
We now support Nutanix AHV deployments on AWS GovCloud(US) for the us-gov-west-1 region, enabling U.S. government agencies and their clients to migrate sensitive data to the cloud while meeting their regulatory and compliance needs. Non-government organizations can also utilize AWS GovCloud (US) regions to take advantage of the unique features and security offerings of these regions. You can manually deploy proxies in the GovCloud storage region.

We currently do not support deployment of a Nutanix AHV backup proxy through the Hybrid Workloads Common Installer for GovCloud.

Auto-Configuration Rule - Handling of tag removal from VM
For VMs configured via auto-configuration rules, tag attributes attached to the VM are now periodically discovered. If the tag attached to a VM is removed from the VMware console or the Management Console using auto-configuration rules, the VM backup will be disabled automatically, and an alert notification will be sent to the users. For more information, see Automatically configure VMware virtual machines for backup.
