FAQs related to Archive policy migration to the new GFS policy with a minimum daily retention of 365 days
FAQs related to Archive policy migration to the new GFS policy with a minimum daily retention of 365 days
Updated this week

I have Archive policies with D W M and Y retention. How will those be migrated to the new Archive policy with a minimum daily retention of 365 days?

If your current daily retention is less than 365 days, it will automatically be adjusted to 365 days during the migration without altering the values for Weekly, Monthly, or Yearly retention. Policies will be migrated seamlessly.

For data that is static or additive in nature, this change will not result in increased credit consumption.

πŸ“ Note

Archive tier is not suitable for dynamic data that changes frequently.

I have Archive policies with a Yearly-only retention format. How will those be migrated to the new Archive policy with a minimum daily retention of 365 days?

For Yearly-only retention policies, the number of years you have defined for retention will be multiplied by 365 to establish the Daily retention value. This will be reflected in the new Archive policy, which includes Daily, Weekly, Monthly, and Yearly retention options, with a minimum Daily retention of 365 days.

Following the migration, you will have the flexibility to define Daily, Weekly, Monthly, and Yearly retention values as per your requirements.

πŸ“ Note

Migration will not impact your credit consumption or the retention of existing snapshots.

I have Data Lock enabled in my Archive policies. How will these policies be migrated to the new Archive policy with a minimum daily retention of 365 days?

Archive policies with Data Lock enabled will not be migrated automatically.
Contact Support for assistance with migrating these policies to the new framework.

What happens if I don't change the policy?

We will discontinue support for the old Archive policies (including those with D/W/M/Y retention and Yearly-only retention) by August 2025. Contact Support for your Archive policies with Data Lock to be converted to the new Archive GFS policy with a minimum Daily retention of 365 days.

Would this new policy change be enforced?

Yes, the transition to the new Archive policy is mandatory. The Archive tier is specifically designed for static or additive data requiring long-term retention.

Under what conditions will this change increase my credit consumption?

The Archive tier is intended for static or additive data. If your Archive tier is used for dynamic data that changes frequently, the requirement for a minimum 365-day Daily retention may result in snapshots retaining changes for a longer duration. This can lead to increased credit consumption due to the prolonged retention of larger, modified datasets.
