You can achieve backup proxy load balancing with backup proxy pools.
A backup proxy pool is a collection of backup proxies. Backup proxy pools eliminate the need to manually map the backup set to an individual backup proxy.
A backup set is mapped to a pool. Based on the load balancing mechanism, all the backup requests from the backup set are assigned to the backup proxies within the pool.
You must ensure an optimum number of backup proxies with sufficient resources are deployed in each pool. If a backup proxy within a pool is disconnected, the backup or restore job is assigned to the next available backup proxy within the pool.
Default Proxy Pool
A default proxy pool is created when you create an organization or site. When you add and activate a proxy, the newly added proxy goes to the default proxy pool.
The default proxy pool cannot be deleted. However, you can move a proxy from the default proxy pool to a different pool. For more information, see Change backup proxy pool.

You cannot rename or delete the Default Proxy Pool.
Best practices for creating backup proxy pools
You must create the backup proxy pools with respect to a NAS device. NAS devices are typically associated with a geographical region.
Example: If you have NAS device 1 located in Australia and NAS device 2 located in North America, you must create exclusive backup proxy pools associated with the respective NAS devices, i.e., geographical regions, and set the time zone accordingly.
When you configure a proxy in the pool for backup, ensure that the proxy is mapped to the pool, which is created for the NAS device.
Procedure
Log in to the Management Console.
Select your Organization if Organizations are enabled.
On the menu bar, click Protect > NAS.
The All Backup Proxies Pools page appears that lists all the registered backup proxies.
Click Create Proxy Pool.
Enter the following details in the Create Backup Proxy Pool dialog box.
Field | Description |
Name | Name of the new backup proxy pool.

You cannot add a proxy pool with the same name in the same organization.

Country | The country for which you have created the backup proxy pool. |
Time Zone | The relevant time zone of the selected country.
The backup of shares mapped to this pool is triggered in this time zone.

Druva supports pool-level time zone. The backup of shares mapped to this pool will be triggered based on the time zone set for the Backup proxy pool. Therefore, all scheduled backups will be triggered according to the pool’s time zone and not the proxy’s local time zone. Similarly, all the restore points will be created according to the pool’s time zone.
