What is a Default Proxy Pool?

A default proxy pool is created when you add the first proxy in an organization or site.

The Default Proxy Pool cannot be deleted. However, you can move a proxy from the default proxy pool to a different pool. For more information, see Change Backup Proxy Pool.

Can a backup proxy pool in Organization A be accessed from Organization B?

A backup proxy pool has access to only one organization or site.

A backup proxy pool, for example, ‘Proxy Pool A’ in a ‘Default organization A’ cannot exist between multiple customers or organizations. Therefore, proxies in ‘Default organization A’ can only be attached to ‘Proxy Pool A’.

Can you add a backup proxy pool with the same name in the same organization?

Can you map a NAS device to more than one backup proxy pool?

Can you attach more than one NAS device to the same backup proxy pool?

Yes.

Can you map an empty pool to a device?

No.

When a backup set was created, a Windows proxy was present in the pool. Is it possible to remove the Windows proxy from the pool at a later point?

Such a removal is not allowed. If the SMB backup set is created and you try to remove the last Windows proxy from the pool, it fails.

However, if there are multiple Windows proxies in that pool, then the operation is allowed.

Is load balancing supported for a pool containing proxies with different versions?

Load balancing is disabled for a pool containing proxies with different versions: a proxy pool-supported version and a non-proxy pool-supported version.

Therefore, while performing an on-demand backup, if the proxy is disconnected, Druva will not assign a different proxy and will let the job fail.

Load balancing is available only for a pool containing all proxies with version 7.0.2 and later.


What happens to scheduled backups if you change the proxy pool's time zone?

Scheduled backups are triggered based on the proxy pool time zone and not the proxy’s local time zone. Therefore, if you change the proxy pool for a backup set and the new proxy pool time zone is different, then scheduled backup will be triggered based on the new proxy pool time zone.
