Restore the full Nutanix AHV virtual machine
Updated over 5 months ago

Overview

You can restore virtual machines backed up via Prism Elements and Prism Centrals. You can restore a VM backed up from a Prism Element to another Prism Element or Prism Central and vice versa. We support a total number of two restore operations in parallel for each Backup proxy.

After your Nutanix environment has backed up successfully, you can perform:

  • Data Restore: Restore vDisks, files and folders.

  • Full virtual machine restore: Restore the entire virtual machine.

A full VM restore restores the entire VM with all its vDisks from a selected recovery point. You can either restore the full virtual machine to the original location or an alternate location.

When you restore a VM to the original location, the virtual machine is restored to the same storage container and cluster it was on before the restore. The restore overwrites the original virtual machine. The power state of the VM before the restore is preserved. The VM is powered-off during the restore, its vDisks detached and then attached. The VM is reverted to the same power state it was in before the restore. Druva detaches any vDisks on the target virtual machine that weren't present during the backup.

πŸ“ Note
A virtual machine's Network Interface Card (NIC) is connected after the virtual machine is restored (to the original or alternate location) even though the NIC was disconnected during the virtual machine backup or before the restore.
