Overview

This article explains how to troubleshoot the “Failed while reading file-system structure” error which occurs during backup.

Traceback

SyncError: Failed while reading file-system structure. (#100000048)

This error canbe found in the inSyncClient<Date and time>.log located under the following location

/Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/inSync/Logs

Cause

This error occurs due to file system/disk corruption.

Resolution

  1. Run the Disk Utility or fsck based on the MAC OS version, to verify if there are any disk errors.

You can check the results in the UI and the log files created for each of these utilities, under the following locations.

For Disk utility:/Users/<username>/Library/Logs/DiskUtility.log

For fsck utility:/Users/<username>/Library/Logs/fsck_hfs.log

  1. Contact your hardware vendor to rectify any/all disk and file system issues.

  2. In case the issue persists after resolving the disk/file system issues,contact Druva Technical Support.

You can check the health of many disks using Disk Utility. Many disks include Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology (S. M. A R.T) hardware, which lets a disk test itself for potential problems.

Disk Utility can check for and fix errors related to the formatting and directory structure of a Mac storage device.
