Overview
This document outlines the procedure for downloading Legal Hold data using WinSCP as the client via a WebDav URL. WinSCP is a widely recognized, free data transfer client that supports various protocols, including FTP, SFTP, and WebDav. The WinSCP client can be obtained from WinSCP's official website.
Each Legal Hold generates a unique WebDav URL, which will be used in this guide for data retrieval through WinSCP.
📝 Note
Druva recommends utilizing its proprietary e-discovery tool for downloading snapshots. Employing WinSCP is considered a temporary solution, and any issues encountered with WinSCP will not be supported by Druva.
Configuring WinSCP for Downloading Legal Hold Data
Upon launching WinSCP, a login window will be displayed. This window is where we will configure the settings to enable data download for legal holds.
2. In the “Session” section of the login window, “File protocol:”, Select “WebDav” from the menu.
3. After choosing the “WebDav” protocol, a new drop-down menu labeled “Encryption:” will appear. Select “TLS/SSL Implicit encryption” from this menu.
4. Log in to the inSync console via https://login.druva.com.
5. Once logged in, access the main menu by clicking the icon in the top-left corner of the page. Navigate to the “Data Governance” section and select the “eDiscovery” link.
6. In the “Overview” page of Legal Holds, click on the “Legal Holds” link in the vertical menu on the left.
7. Select the relevant legal hold by clicking its name and proceed to the “Data Collection & Access” tab.
8. Within the “WebDav Access Details” section of the “Data Collection & Access” tab, find and copy the WebDav URL. Paste this URL into the “Host name:” field of WinSCP.
10. Enter your email address and password (used for logging into the inSync console) into the “User name:” and “Password:” fields, respectively.
11. Click the “Login” button to connect to the WebDav URL and access the Legal Hold data. The folder that appears will correspond to the user authenticated based on the credentials entered into WinSCP.
📝 Note
The folder will be located under the root directory named after the legal hold, e.g., /webdav/<legal hold name>.
12. In WinSCP, double-click the folder named after the logged-in user. The displayed list of folders will correspond to the resources associated with the relevant account, such as endpoint devices or SaaS applications.
13. To download an individual file or folder, right-click on the item and select the “Download…” option.
