only allow restores but no backups

Updated over a month ago

Overview

Customers would like to use a spare device to do a restore onto but not backup anything on the spare device. They do not want to use the ediscovery tool and the files are too large for Admin download via the Console.

Steps in create new Profile and Move User to new Profile

  1. Within the Druva Console, on the top left corner, click the “hamburger icon” the select Endpoints

  1. Once Endpoints are selected, click on Profile on the top ribbon

2. Once in the Profile section, click on Create New Profile (on the top right side on the screen)

3. Name the Profile Something Appropriate and choose the settings you desire and click next

4. One the Endpoints section, select enable EndPoints backup

5. Once enabled , uncheck the boxes for any of the directories that are selected in the right hand section of the Laptops/Desktops section

6. Please double check the rest of the settings within this section to make sure they align to your needs and click next once confirmed

7. As this is a workaround for an endpoint device, no need to Enable SaaS Apps Backups, just click Finish here

8. Move the user that is being used for the restore into the newly created profile. Click on Users on the top ribbon

9. Find the user and click on the radio button next to the user you would like to move the profile of.

10. Once the checkbox is selected click on the ellipsis button and select change profile

11. You will then be prompted to select the Profile you would like to change this user. Select the newly created profile from the previous steps and save.

Please Note: This will affect all the devices for the User being moved to the new Profile.
