Manage Groups

Updated this week

Overview

This article explains how to manage Group discovery, backup settings, and snapshots, as well as how to enable, disable, or delete Group.

Discover Groups Manually

Druva Console auto-discovers new Groups every 24 hours. To discover new Groups manually before the next scheduled discovery:

  1. Sign in to the Druva Cloud Platform Console.

  2. Navigate to Microsoft 365 > Groups.

  3. Click the Refresh icon.

❗IMPORTANT

A SharePoint site associated with a group will also appear on the SharePoint listing page.

Edit Default Backup Settings

By default, backup profiles for licensed Microsoft 365 Org Apps are provisioned automatically.
The default Group profile is named Default Group Profile.

Enable Backup for a Group

To manually enable the backup for disabled Group:

  1. Sign in to the Druva Cloud Platform Console.

  2. Navigate to Microsoft 365 > Groups>Configured Groups.

  3. Select the disabled Group.

  4. Click the three-dot menu and select Enable.

  5. Confirm the action.

Disable Backup for a Group

To stop backups for selected Group:

  1. Sign in to the Druva Cloud Platform Console.

  2. Go to Microsoft 365 > Groups> Configured Groups.

  3. Click the Group name

  4. Click the three-dot menu and select Disable.

  5. Confirm the action.

💡TIP:

Even after deletion in Microsoft 365, you can restore the Group. However, backups and discovery will no longer include it.

Delete Groups

Deleting a Group will stop ongoing backup, restore, or download tasks. All associated data will be permanently removed. To delete a Group:

  1. Sign in to the Druva Cloud Platform Console.

  2. Navigate to Microsoft 365 > Group > All Groups.

  3. Select the Group to delete and click three dot menu > Delete.

  4. In the confirmation dialog, enter the reason (10–150 characters).

  5. Click Delete.

📝NOTE:

  • You cannot delete a Group if Data Lock is enabled.

Considerations

  • When you delete a configured Group, all associated Teams and SharePoint sites will also be deleted.

📝NOTE: This does not apply to non-configured Groups.

  • Any enable, disable, or delete operations performed from the Groups listing page are automatically synchronized with the SharePoint site listing page.

  • During deletion, you must provide a reason, which is recorded in the Admin Audit trail.

  • All backed-up data associated with the Group will be temporarily retained and can be restored within a configurable rollback window. Once the rollback window expires, the Group and its data will be permanently deleted. For more information, see Rollback Actions.
