Issue: Ongoing SharePoint backup running for long time, not finishing

Large SharePoint sites, especially those with high user traffic, can face performance bottlenecks during backup operations due to the sheer volume of data and activity. To address this challenge, Druva recommends to Enable Auxiliary App Settings and Deploy Sub apps to accelerate and streamline backup jobs for these high-traffic sites.

The Sub Apps deployment, allows you to distribute and parallelize the backup process across multiple smaller application instances

To deploy the sub-apps by following the below steps:

1) Log into Druva Admin portal

2) Click on Microsoft 365

3) Click on "Manage Apps" on the top right-hand corner.

4) Click on Microsoft 365 basic, enter your global admin credentials and accept the permission.

5) Do it for the other two sub-apps: "Exchange Online & public folder" and "OneDrive and SharePoint".

In addition to deploying Sub Apps, Druva also recommends enabling Auxiliary App Settings to further enhance the performance of backup jobs. Auxiliary App Settings provide fine-tuned controls over how the backup process interacts with the SharePoint environment, allowing for faster data retrieval and more efficient resource allocation.

To enable Aux apps, please follow below steps:

1) Log into Druva Admin portal

2) Click on Microsoft 365

3) Click the "Manage Apps" button in the top right and then go to the Auxiliary Apps section.

4) Click Edit and Enable the toggle for Auxiliary apps and click Save.

By deploying Druva Sub Apps and enabling Auxiliary App Settings, organizations can ensure that their backup operations are not only faster but also more resilient to the demands of large SharePoint sites and high user traffic.
