Scheduled backups of Microsoft Sharepoint Cloud App fail

Problem description

Scheduled backups from Microsoft 365 SharePoint Cloud App may fail.

Cause

AD Connector is either not configured or is in a disconnected state.

For backups from CloudApps other than SharePoint, inSync has a user mapped to these containers and the backup relies on the endpoint device as well as the AD Connector. Since there are no mapped users for SharePoint, the scheduled backup only depends on AD Connector for the environment.

Resolution

Verify the following to resolve the backup failure:

  • AD connector is configured so that scheduled backups can run.

  • AD connector is in the connected state.
