Overview

This article describes the procedure to backup hosted files on Microsoft Windows 2003 server OS as Microsoft has announced End of life way back in. You may have Windows 2003 which needs a backup.

Steps to set up back up hosted files on Microsoft Windows 2003 server OS through SMB shares

  1. Check prerequisites for the NAS proxy.

  2. Download, install and activate the NAS proxy on a Windows 2003 OS.

  3. Share the folder which you want to back up via NAS:
    a) Right click on the folder and go to “Properties”.
    b) Click on “Sharing and Security” and select “Share this folder”.
    c) Hit “Apply” or you can setup “Permissions” as per your requirement.

  4. Open Druva Phoenix UI.

  5. Go to Hybrid Workloads.

  6. Select Specific Organization (If you have multiple organizations)

  7. Click Protect and Select NAS

  8. Click on Add NAS Device.

  9. Proceed with Add a NAS device.

  10. Discover shares or manually add them.

  11. Create a backup set for the NAS share.
