To protect your virtual environment, Druva interacts directly with the OpenStack APIs. This connection gives Druva the necessary access to backup and recover virtual machines.
📝 Note
Virtual machine protection requires at least member-level access to the project. You can either use an existing user with a 'member' role, or create a new user and assign this role.
Creating user and assigning role
This section guides you through creating an OpenStack user for backup administration. It covers creating the user, assigning them the member role within the relevant project to grant sufficient backup and recovery privileges, and using these credentials during proxy activation.
📝 Note
Member is a predefined OpenStack role that you can assign to a user.
You must select the member role, assign it to a user for that project, and use these user credentials when activating the proxy.
Procedure
Log in to the OpenStack Horizon Dashboard as an administrator.
Select your project (for example,
dev2).Navigate to Identity > Users and click Create User.
In the Create User dialog, provide the following:
User name: Provide the username.
Password: Provide the password.
Confirm Password: Confirm the password.
Primary Project: Select project that you want to assign to the user.
Role: Select the 'member' role from the dropdown.
Click Create User.
The user is created and assigned the selected role, granting them access to the project.
