Teams metadata backup completes with "Backed Up With Errors" after a private channel is deleted

Description:

A Microsoft Team consistently shows the warning "Backed Up With Errors" during the Metadata Backup process. The warning appears during every scheduled backup run, even though the team's backups had been completing successfully before the issue.

Cause:

A deleted private channel within the Team breaks the sync between Druva and the underlying SharePoint folder structure associated with that channel. Since each private channel in Microsoft Teams has its own dedicated SharePoint site, deleting the channel leaves Druva referencing a folder structure that no longer matches the current SharePoint state, causing the metadata backup to fail with errors on every subsequent run.

Solution:

To resolve this issue, force a re-sync of the folder tree between Druva and SharePoint:

  1. Navigate to the SharePoint site associated with the affected Team.

  2. Add a temporary file (e.g., a blank text file) to the SharePoint site.

  3. Trigger a manual backup for the affected Team from the inSync Management Console.

  4. Once the manual backup completes successfully, the temporary file can be safely deleted from the SharePoint site.

Verification:

After the manual backup run completes, check the backup status for the affected Team on the next scheduled backup. The status should now show as completed without the "Backed Up With Errors" warning.
