This section provides an overview of alerts, including their severity and type. Alerts are generated to indicate an exception or notify administrators about a potential issue that requires attention.
Overview and Alert Scope
Alerts are generated to notify authorized administrators and subscribers about exceptions or potential issues that require attention.
Resolution: An alert remains active on the Alerts page until the underlying issue is resolved. Once resolved, the alert is removed. Note: All Job alerts for Azure Files are automatically removed after 7 days.
Subscriber Management: By default, all Enterprise Workloads administrators are subscribed to alerts. Cloud and Organization administrators have the ability to manage alert subscriptions for non-administrators. (Administrators can unsubscribe themselves using the My Subscriptions tab.)
Alert Severity Definitions
Alerts are categorized by severity to help prioritize resolution:
Severity | Description |
Critical | Requires immediate resolution to protect data or service integrity. |
Warning | Requires timely resolution; lower priority than critical alerts. |
Information | Informative in nature; may not require administrator intervention. |
Azure Files Alerts
These alerts are generated for file-level protection and recovery operations:
Alert Type | Created When | Severity |
Backup Failed | The backup job fails. | Critical |
Restore Failed | The restore job fails. | Critical |
Backup Window Expired | The data set was not backed up within the specified duration, and a recovery point was not created. | Warning |
Backup Skipped | The backup job is skipped. | Warning |
Backup/Restore Successful with Error | The job was completed, but encountered errors. | Warning |
