To activate protection for your discovered Azure Files shares, follow these three steps:
Define Backup Policies: Create one or more backup policies in the console to define your data retention and schedule settings.
Tip
We recommend creating separate policies based on your data classification, such as Business-critical, Production, or Non-Production, for optimal governance and Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs).
Apply Configuration: Assign the newly created policy to the target Azure Files shares to configure protection settings, called a backupset.
Initiate First Backup: Manually trigger the first backup job. All subsequent backups will be automatically run based on the defined policy.
