This article describes how to add, edit, make a copy, and delete backup policies for AWS S3 buckets.
Add a backup policy while creating a backup set for an S3 bucket
Log in to the AWS Workloads Management Console. Navigate to Account and select an account.
Click S3 in the left pane.
Select a bucket that you want to configure for backup.
Click Configure for Backup.
In the Backup Policy drop-down, click New Backup Policy.

Edit a backup policy
On the top navigation bar, select Policies.
Click S3 in the left pane to view AWS S3 backup policies.
Click the backup policy that needs to be edited.
In the Summary tab, you can click Edit in the following sections:
βOverview: Edit the Name and Description information in the Edit Overview window.
Backup Schedule: Edit the Backup Schedule information in the Edit Backup Schedule window.
Retention: Edit the Retention information in the Edit Retention window.
Delete a backup policy
You can remove backup policies that are not assigned to AWS S3 buckets. Before you remove a backup policy, ensure that you assign a new backup policy to the AWS S3 buckets.
Select a policy and click Delete.

βYou cannot delete a policy if its mapped to a bucket.
Click Yes in the confirmation window to proceed.
Duplicate a backup policy
To create multiple copies of a backup policy without having to create a backup policy each time, you can create a copy of an existing backup policy.
When you create a copy of a backup policy, the newly-created backup policy is identical to the policy that it was copied from. You can modify the properties of this backup policy according to your requirements.
Select a policy and click Duplicate Policy.
βIn the Duplicate Policy window, provide the name of the new backup policy and description.
Click Save.
