After the onboarding prerequisites are met, the account is added to the console.
You can view the S3 option in the left navigation pane, and all the buckets available in your account are listed.
The S3 Buckets tab provides the following information:
Field | Description |
S3 Bucket Name | Specifies the name of the AWS S3 bucket. |
Region | Specify the region of the AWS S3 bucket. |
Size | Size of the AWS S3 bucket. |
# Objects | Number of objects in the AWS S3 bucket. |
Creation Date | Date on which the AWS S3 bucket is created. |
Backup Configuration | Whether the AWS S3 bucket is configured for backup. |
The Size and Objects columns on the S3 Buckets tab may display a dash ( - ) for AWS S3 buckets as shown in the following screenshot:
Dashes appear because of the following reasons:
The bucket is empty.
You have not enabled Storage Lens groups in AWS S3.
AWS S3 is designed to store millions of objects, making it impractical to manually count or track every item in a bucket. To address this, use the AWS S3 Storage Lens groups.
How it works?
Storage Lens automatically scans each of your AWS S3 buckets daily to determine their total size and object count. This data is then used to populate the Size and Object Count columns in the AWS Workloads (CloudRanger) Management Console.
By default, the AWS S3 Storage Lens default dashboard is enabled, allowing you to view size and object metrics for each bucket.
If you see dashes ("β") displayed instead of values across all buckets, it's likely that the default dashboard is disabled. To resolve this, check the Storage Lens settings for the default account dashboard and follow the steps below to enable it.
Open the AWS Management Console and navigate to the Amazon S3 service.
In the left navigation pane, click Storage Lens.
Click Dashboards.
Select the default account dashboard.
Click Edit.
Find the status setting for the dashboard and change it to Enabled.
Save the changes.
