Update Backup Application Credentials

Overview

Azure backups scheduled within certain subscriptions may fail in one of the following scenarios:

Update credentials

To avoid Azure backup and restore failures and continue protecting the onboarded Azure resources, ensure that you reset and update your application credentials.

Workflow to update credentials

Step 1: Create a new client secret for the backup application within your Azure tenant.

Step 2: Update the client secret on your Druva management console.

Before you Begin

To get started:

  1. Log into your Druva management console, and navigate to the All Subscriptions page. Click the three-dot menu and then select Update Credentials.


    The Update Credentials dialog displays.

  2. Select your Azure Tenant and copy the Application (Client) ID.

  3. Proceed with creating the new client secret.

Create new client secret for backup application

  1. Login to your Microsoft Azure management console, and navigate to Microsoft Entra ID > App registrations.

  2. Locate the backup application within your Azure tenant (copied previously), and select the corresponding Application name displayed.

  3. Navigate to Certificates & secrets > Client secrets > New client secret.


  4. Add a description for your client secret, and select Custom expiration.

    1. Select current date as the Start date.

    2. Select End date of 24 months from Start date.


      Note: Client secret lifetime is limited upto two years (24 months), when selecting a custom credential expiry.

  5. Select Add.


❗ Important

Record the Client Secret Value, the Secret ID, and the Expiry for use in your Druva management console. This secret value is never displayed again once you leave this page.


Update client secret

  1. Log into your Druva management console, and navigate to the All Subscriptions page.

  2. Click the three-dot menu and then select Update Credentials.

  3. Select your Azure Tenant and enter the newly generated Client Secret Value, Client Secret ID, and Secret Expiry.


  4. Click Save.

A notification appears on successful update of application credentials for the selected tenant.
