How to Manually Refresh the VM List on VMware in Druva

Updated this week

Overview

In some scenarios, especially after recent changes in your VMware environment—like adding or removing virtual machines—it becomes necessary to manually refresh the VM list to ensure that Druva reflects the most up-to-date inventory. This guide walks you through the steps to manually trigger a VM discovery in the Druva console.

Steps to Manually Discover Virtual Machines

  1. Login to the Druva Console.

  2. Navigate to All vCenters/ESXi Hosts from the left-hand menu.

  3. Click on the desired vCenter or ESXi Host where you want to refresh the VM list.

  4. Once inside the selected environment, go to the All Virtual Machines page.

  5. On the top center of the VM list, locate the Refresh icon (🔄) next to the "VM" label.

  6. Click the Refresh icon to initiate a manual discovery of all VMs associated with that vCenter or ESXi host.

  7. After the refresh completes, verify that the VM list is updated to reflect the current state of your VMware environment.

Note:

  • This refresh operation does not impact any existing backups or configurations.

  • If newly added VMs still do not appear, ensure the proper credentials and access permissions are in place for the vCenter/ESXi host.

  • It may take a few minutes for all VMs to populate depending on the number and size of your virtual environment.
