Overview
You can back up and restore calendar data from Microsoft 365 Groups, including various types of events and their associated metadata using Druva Console. Group calendar data is backed up as part of the Group Mailbox.
The following table details the backup and restore support for different Microsoft 365 Groups calendar event types.

If Group Mailbox Backup is not already enabled for your tenant, Support will enable both Group Mailbox and Group Calendar together.
KMS (Key Management Service) must be enabled before using this feature. See Enterprise Key Management for Endpoints & Saas Apps for more information.
Backup
For detailed information on the general process of backing up Microsoft 365 Groups, please refer to this article; Backup Group Data.
📝NOTE:
The Group Calendar is backed up and restored as part of the Group Mailbox data. It will not be displayed as a separate entry in the activity details section. The total data backed up under the group mailbox includes both the mailbox contents and the associated calendar data.
Restore
For detailed information on the general process of restoring Microsoft 365 Groups, please refer to this article; Restore Groups Data.
While granular restore is available for individual mailbox items, it is not currently supported for restoring individual calendar events. Instead, entire calendar snapshots can be restored. For Group Mailbox Calendar data, both restore methods are supported:
In-place restore
Restore as new
You can view the "Calendar" folder within the group mailbox snapshot. If you do not see the "Calendar" option in the snapshot, it could be due to one of the following reasons:
Group calendar backup has not yet been enabled for your organization.
No calendar events have been backed up for the selected group during the chosen snapshot period.
The "Calendar" folder will not be visible in snapshots taken before Group calendar backup enablement.
Group Calendar API Limitations
Access to the Group Calendar is controlled by group membership. Only users who are members of the group can view or manage its calendar.
To access Group Calendar data using the Microsoft Graph API for backup and restore, the administrator must also be a member of the group.
If the admin is not part of the Group, the app administrator is temporarily added as a member during the backup and restore process and automatically removed afterward.
This action will have the following effects:
Teams Access: If the group has an associated team, the admin will briefly gain access to it. This access is revoked once the backup is complete and the admin is removed.
Email Access: After the restore operation, the admin will have access to the restored emails within the group mailbox. The restored messages will appear in the admin's personal mailbox (Sent Items).
Audit logs: Adding and removing the admin as a group member generates an event in the Azure logs.
Group Calendar Restore Limitations
Event Restore Support:
Events originally created by an individual—where the Group was an attendee—can also be restored. In such cases, the Group becomes the organizer upon restoration.
If the Group was the original organizer of an event, it will remain listed as the organizer when the event is restored.
Regardless of the original organizer, all attendees will receive a notification when an event is restored.
In-place Restore Limitations:
Deleted occurrences from recurring events cannot be restored. The Microsoft Graph API does not support re-creating deleted occurrences for a recurring series. As a result, restoring a deleted occurrence is not possible during an in-place restore.
However, if the entire series was deleted, it can be restored.
Restore to New Group
If a recurring event has any deleted occurrences at the time of backup, those occurrences will still be restored when the snapshot is restored to a new group.
This may result in additional events appearing in the restored calendar compared to the original one.
