FAQs related to Archive Yearly only Retention
Updated over a week ago

What happens to my daily, weekly, and monthly snapshot after I change the policy?

All existing snapshots will be retained according to the new yearly retention policy you set during the change. The retention period will be calculated from the snapshot creation date, not from the day you update the policy.

What happens If I don't change the policy?

Druva will end support for the old Archive policy (with Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Yearly retention) in six months. After that, you will be required to switch to the new Yearly retention policy.

Would Druva enforce the policy change?

Yes, the transition to the New Yearly retention policy is mandatory. Archive tier backup is designed for static (non-changing) and additive data that requires long-term retention.

After six months' time, the old policies with Daily, Weekly, Monthly and Yearly retention will be migrated to Yearly only retention policy with optimum number of years calculated from your existing policy.

If I change the policy, will there be any early delete fee?

No, changing the policy will not result in any early delete fee. The retention will simply convert to the yearly format, and the retention period will be based on the snapshot creation date, not the policy change date.

Under what conditions this change will increase my credit consumption?

Archive tier backup is designed for static (non-changing) or additive data. If you use Archive tier for dynamic data that frequently changes, the snapshots will retain the changed data for a longer period, leading to increased credit consumption due to the extended retention of larger, modified datasets.
