The following topic lists some of the issues that you might encounter while working with Microsoft 365, and the solutions or workarounds that you can use to resolve these issues.

EXO-1

Quota Exceeded (EXO-1)

This error indicates that the user has exceeded their Microsoft storage quota. Increase the user's storage quota.

EXO-2

Invalid User / Domain Change (EXO-2)

This error indicates that the user's email was not found due to a change in email, domain, or UPN. No action is required. The latest user account will be fetched and updated in the database. The backup will be re-triggered with the next schedule.

EXO-3 | MS-247

Throttling Issue

Microsoft 365 tenant is facing heavy throttling. The maximum possible retry limit is reached. This issue will be resolved automatically. The backup will be re-triggered with the next schedule.

EXO-4

Invalid User Principal Name (EXO-4)

This error indicates that the user account is invalid, deleted, or lacks a license. Review the job activity details and download the logs to understand the failure.

EXO-5

Mailbox Move in Progress (EXO-5)

This error indicates that the mailbox cannot be accessed using EWS because a mailbox move operation is underway, resulting in a temporary throttling error. Please try again later. If the issue persists, contact support.

EXO-9

Server Busy (EXO-9)

This error indicates that the Microsoft server is busy or experiencing high traffic, making it temporarily unavailable to handle additional requests. Please try again later.

EXO-10

Connection Failed Transient Error (EXO-10)

This error indicates that the connection to the server failed due to a transient error reported by the Microsoft server. Please try again later. If the issue persists, contact support.

EXO-11

Message Size Exceeded (EXO-11)

This error indicates that the message you're attempting to restore exceeds the maximum allowed size for your mailbox. Please check if the email address is correct and/or if the user with the same email address has not been soft-deleted. If the issue persists, then contact support.

EXO-12

Internal Server Error (EXO-12)

This error indicates that there is a problem on the server side of Exchange Online. Please try again later. If the issue persists, contact support.

EXO-13

Internal Server Transient Error (EXO-13)

This error indicates that the server encountered an intermittent problem while processing a request. Please try again later. If the issue persists, contact support.

EXO-15

Mime Content Invalid (EXO-15)

This error occurs during in-place restore when the Exchange server rejects an item due to corrupt or invalid MIME (Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions) content. The issue typically stems from formatting problems, corrupt message data, or unsupported attachments. If the issue persists, contact support.

EXO-16

Mime Content Conversion Failed (EXO-16)

This error occurs during in-place restore when the Exchange server rejects an item due to unconvertible MIME (Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions) content. The issue typically stems from formatting problems, corrupt message data, or unsupported attachments. If the issue persists, contact support.

EXO- 18

Mailbox Configuration (EXO-18)

This error indicates that there is an issue with the settings or configuration of the mailbox you are attempting to restore. If the issue persists, contact support.

MS-01

Internal Error (MS-01)

Unexpected error while running the job. Retrigger the job. If the issue persists, contact support.

MS-10

Task Aborted (MS-10)

The task is canceled by the user. No action is required.

MS-11

Quota limit reached (MS-11)

The user has exceeded their storage quota. Increase the storage quota for the user.

MS-12

User Group Not Found (MS-12)

The user group is not found. No action is required. The backup of the rest of the group data will continue.

MS-22

Authorization Failed (MS-22)

Cannot connect to the Microsoft 365 tenant due to authorization failure.

Reconfigure the Microsoft 365 app.

MS-70

Insufficient Permissions (MS-70)

No permission to access the Microsoft 365 app data. Check if the app is listed, and if not, then re-configure the app.

MS-75

Task Canceled (MS-75)

The task is canceled by the user.

No action is required.

MS-372

Site URL is Changed (MS-372)

The SharePoint Site URL is changed in Microsoft 365 tenant.

No action is required. The latest URL will be fetched and updated in the database.

The backup will be re-triggered with the next schedule.

MS-135 | SPO-15

User Not Found (MS-135)

The user is not found in the SharePoint site collection.
No action is required. The backup of the rest of the site's data will continue.

MS-214 | SPO-6

Token Invalid (MS-214)

The Graph delta token used for fetching data from SharePoint for incremental backup is expired or no longer valid.
No action is required. A full scan backup will be triggered for the Document Library.

SPO-01

File is checked out (SPO-1)

The file is checked out and in Edit mode.
Check in the file to allow the job activity.

SPO-02

MS Team site channel update failed

Team channel update is not supported for SharePoint.
No action is required.

SPO-07

Character Limit Exceeded (SPO-7)

The request URL contains more characters than the Microsoft limit of 400 characters.

Change the folder hierarchy and ensure that the path is within 400 characters.

SPO-08

Microsoft Server Error (SP-O8)

Server-side failure from Microsoft with 500 status code.
No action is required. The API call will be retried.

SPO-09

Token Invalid (SPO-09)

The Graph delta token used for fetching data from SharePoint for incremental backup is expired or no longer valid.
No action is required. A full scan backup will be triggered for the Document Library.

SPO-13

Entity is Deleted (SPO-13)
The requested entity is deleted in SharePoint site collection.
No action is required. The backup of the rest of the site's data will continue.

SPO-16

Microsoft List View Threshold Reached (SPO-16)

Microsoft's list view threshold is reached.
No action is required. An alternate method is used back up a Document Library with more than 5k files.

SPO-17

Virus Infected File (SPO-17)

Virus-infected files are skipped from the backup.
No action is required. The backup of the rest of the files will continue.

SPO-19

File Not Found (SPO-19)

The requested file was not found in the SharePoint site collection.
No action is required. The backup of the rest of the site's data will continue.

SPO-20

Connection Error From Microsoft (SPO-20)

The job will continue by retrying the API request. If all retries are exhausted, the file is skipped, and the rest of the job will continue.

SPO-21

The site level feature is not available in SharePoint Online

Install the feature and try again.

SPO-22

Site Not Found (SPO-22)

The site is removed from the M365 tenant and thus cannot be backed up.

The site will be disabled for backup with the next schedule.

SPO-23

Metadata Restore Failed (SPO-23)

Review the job activity details and download the logs to understand the failure.

If the issue persists, contact support and share the log files.

SPO-24

Site Feature Restore Failed (SPO-24)
Review the job activity details and download the logs to understand the failure.

SPO-25

Quick Launch Node Restore Failed (SPO-25)
Review the job activity details and download the logs to understand the failure.

SPO-26

Top Navigation Bar Restore Failed (SPO-25)

Review the job activity details and download the logs to understand the failure.

SPO-27

Term Store Restore Failed (SPO-27)
Review the job activity details and download the logs to understand the failure.

SPO-28

List Item Restore Failed (SPO-28)
Failed to add or update list item during the restore. Review the job activity details and download the logs to understand the failure.

SPO-29

Site Not Found in SharePoint PowerShell (SPO-29)
Restore completed partially. Please perform the restore again after sometime.

SPO-31

SharePoint Site Busy (SPO-31)
The operation cannot be performed because the SharePoint site is busy. Please try again after some time.

SPO-32

SharePoint Storage Issue (SPO-32)
Operation failed due to some issues with the SharePoint storage.

If the issue persists, contact support.

SPO-35

Cannot Restore Active Solution (SPO-35)

Restore failed as solution is active. Deactivate the solution and perform restore again.

SPO-36

SharePoint Site Locked (SPO-36)

Backup failed as site is locked. Unlock site by changing the site access settings to either - ‘ReadOnly’ or ‘Unlock’ and perform backup.
