Defined file types for backup
Updated over a week ago

Overview

inSync provides defined file types that you can choose to include or exclude from a backup. You can configure these settings from the Create Profile wizard.

By default, inSync:

  • It excludes the following file types from backups: video files, Audio files, Executables, Image files, and Email files.

  • Includes the following file types in backups: Office files, PDF files, and HTML files.

Based on your requirements, you can always change the default selections while configuring the profile in inSync.

📝 Note
By default, inSync excludes the following file extensions from backup via Exclude Files in a profile:
*.wim; *.bak; *.cab; *.dll; *.exe; *.tmp; *.ost; *.olk; *.oab; *.dmp; *.vmem; *.driveupload; *.indd; *.ipa; *.ithmb.

❗Important

File extensions not included in the default list must be manually added to the inclusion list. To know more about file inclusion, see Define file inclusions for backup.
