Problem description
RDS Database Backup fails in CloudRanger with the Error: Cannot create a snapshot because the database instance xxxyyyzzz is not currently in the available state. Retrying in 600 seconds
Cause
The RDS Database Instance is not started at the moment CloudRanger tries to create a snapshot.
This problem might occur if the Database is a scheduled Database that only gets started at specific times.
Verification
Go to your AWS account and try to create a snapshot of the RDS Database.
We expect this snapshot creation test to fail in AWS with the Error below:
Database is in invalid state.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, ensure your RDS Database is started before the Backup starts in CloudRanger.
