Problem description
Phoenix VMware backup fails on a VM with event id 1000 for VMware Tools.
This event from the OS is observed only with virtual machines.
VMware or any application backup (e.g SQL) on that virtual machine may get stuck or skip with PHOENIX243 error.
The following error is encountered:
Volume Shadow Copy(VSS) Internal Error (#10004ffff : 0x80070583L) (Error Code : VSS65535)

Resolution
Restart VMware tools.
Go to Administrative Tools > Services.Repair VMware tools.
