Follow these steps to recover protected file data to the original or an alternate share destination.
Prerequisites
Destination Share: Make sure an SMB file share exists on the destination storage account for the target File Share.
Procedure
Step 1: Locate backup set and select point-in-time
Log in to the Management Console.
On the console, from the top menu, select Organization.
Select Protect > Go to Azure.
In the left navigation pane, select subscription and click Storage Account(Files).
In the right pane, select the storage account from which you want to restore data.
From the share details page, in the Configured Backup Sets section, select the backupset to be restored from, and then click Restore.
Select the recovery point you want to restore from.
Step 2: Select content and scope
In the folder hierarchy, select the entire file share or browse for individual file(s) and/or folders to be restored.
βNote
A single click of expanding a particular folder will load a maximum of 2048 files/folders. If more exist, the Load more option will be visible to display the next set of results in that folder.
βClick Restore.
Step 3: Define restore location
On the Restore Location window, select one of the following:
Restore to original location: Restore data to the source share.
Restore to alternate location: Restore data to a specified destination.
β2. Provide the following information:
Field | Description |
Subscription | Select the Azure subscription from the list of subscriptions you have configured within Druva. |
Storage Account | Select the destination storage account in which you want to restore. πNote: When performing a recovery, the destination storage account and file share must exist before the restore operation. |
Region | The region corresponding to the selected storage account gets auto populated. |
File Share | Select the destination File Share in which you want to restore. |
Path | Select the path with the pattern: <File Share Name>/<directory>. |
Step 4: Configure settings and finalize
On the Advanced Settings window, select the required file conflict handling:
Always overwrite: Overwrites the existing data.
Overwrite if original is older: Overwrites existing data only if its modification date/time is older than the data being restored.
Restore and append original with .orig extension: Retains the existing data and appends the restored file with the .orig extension.
Always skip: Restores only the files that do not exist in the target location.
Preserve Original Directory Structure: This option ensures the parent directory structure is recreated, keeping the folder hierarchy intact.
Click Finish.
The restore job is triggered. Check the status on the All Jobs page.
Advanced Search Functionality
The search feature allows you to locate files and directories across all recovery points within a backup set by applying one or more concurrent filters.
Search Modes and Name Matching
You can search by the file or folder name using two distinct methods:
Exact Name Match: Use the Match exact name checkbox and enter the complete filename (excluding the extension).
βConstraint: Selecting this checkbox disables all other advanced filters.Partial Name Match (Substring): If the exact match box is unchecked, the search uses substrings. The search term must be a minimum of 3 characters and function as a prefix.
βConstraint: Search terms must start with alphanumeric characters. Using a special character or underscore as the prefix (e.g., _B_ or _file_) will not yield results.
Advanced Search Filters
Filters are applied concurrently, meaning results must match every selected parameter:
File Type Groups: Select from predefined file categories (e.g., Office files, Image files).
βNote: For the full list of included file extensions in each group, refer to the UI.File Extension: Search for specific file extensions. Extensions must be entered manually without leading periods or regular expressions (e.g., enter txt).
βConstraint: The extension can have a maximum length of 10 characters.Date Modified: Search for files created or modified between the selected date range.
File Size: Enter a file size range using KBs, MBs, or GBs.
File Name Patterns: Enter file name patterns that must be excluded or included. Patterns must start with *.
Search Results and Display
The Search Results section displays the files and folders that match the criteria.
Applied Filters: You can view all applied filters by hovering over the search query in the search bar.
Sorting: The Name field is the default sorting option, but it is initially in a neutral state. Click the sort icon to order results in ascending or descending order.
